35 Years of SPW

SPW GmbH celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2023. Since its establishment in autumn 1988 by Horst Hübner, the company has evolved into a leading provider in the field of propeller technology for both sports and professional boating. Claudia Adamczyk and her husband Jörg have been managing the company since 2004. In autumn 2022, Stefan Himme joined the management team as a further member.

SPW GmbH has focused on innovation and quality right from the start. The first feathering propeller, which later became known as the VARIPROP, has been manufactured since the early years. Over the years, the company expanded its portfolio to include other sailing propellers and fixed pitch propellers for motor yachts. SPW GmbH's services include not only the manufacture, but also the repair and optimisation of propellers as well as the design of special propellers.

In recent years, SPW GmbH has made significant advancements. The VARIPROP has been continuously enhanced and is now presented as VARIPROP GP with Gawn-profile blades. The initial sizes were introduced in 2019, and the GP-128 model was launched in autumn 2023. Additionally, the VARIPROP GP 5-blade garnered attention in 2022. These innovations emphasise our commitment to consistently develop the finest products for our customers.

As a company, we put a strong emphasis on standards and safety. The VARIPROP GP, like its predecessor the VARIPROP, is the only feathering propeller to have received DNV type approval. This means that we can prove our compliance with safety standards through an external audit. Furthermore, we also fulfil individual requirements and preferences of our customers.

Since the early 2000s, our focus on international markets has been pivotal at SPW. Our products are distributed worldwide through dealers, and we continuously strive to expand our international dealer network.

Our range of products and services reflects the diversity and quality that characterise SPW GmbH. Apart from the VARIPROP feathering propeller, we offer the VARIFOLD folding propeller. Each yacht receives an individual calculation to find the optimal propeller. Additionally, our portfolio includes products such as the VARISEAL stuffing box, VARIFLEX marine coupling, fixed propellers by Nakashima, custom-made shafts according to ISO, SAE, or individual threads, shaft bearings, and rope cutters.
